Undivided Devotion To The Lord
I have been searching for a way to summarize the reading for the past 2 weeks and I think I finally have it!
1 Corinthians 7:35 - "I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord."
2.1 - Immorality and the church - Paul's advice, "Have undivided devotion to the Lord"
2.2 Three Roadblocks: Leaven, immorality, and the law courts - Paul's advice, "Have undivided devotion to the Lord"
2.3 Theology of Sexual Practice: Kingdom Ethics - Paul's advice, "Have undivided devotion to the Lord"
2.4 Theology of Sexual Practice: Joining the Body - Paul's advice, "Have undivided devotion to the Lord"
2.5 Sexual Practice in Harmony with the Gospel - Paul's advice, "Have undivided devotion to the Lord"
I know at face value that answer can seem like a crazy over generalization. It can even be viewed as a cop-out of having to deal with serious issues. So, I have tested the advice on issues and/or themes that present themselves in my everyday experience. Crazy over generalization? NO! Cop-out? NO! May it never be!
Instead Paul's advice "Have undivided devotion to the Lord" has been a "catch all" that has propelled me into greater intimacy and trust!
I suggest you try it! (Best said in Dr. Evil's voice...from Austin Powers)

I had a similar response to the reading Reid. I felt mesmerized and amazed by the complexity and sophistication of Bailey and Paul, but no matter how deep and multifaceted their approach, I always sensed Bailey and Paul leading me to confess, "love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."
